Who I am

This website belongs to James Sims, a freelance videographer, editor and motion designer based in London. I am responsible for any personal data you send through it.

What I collect

When you use the contact form I receive your name, your email address and your message. I use them only to reply to your enquiry and, if we work together, to manage that project. I don't add you to a mailing list or share your details with anyone else.

The legal basis is legitimate interest: you've asked me to get in touch. I keep enquiries for up to two years, or for as long as we're working together and any time the law requires after that.

To stop spam, the server briefly records the IP address a message came from. It is held in memory only and is cleared within minutes.

Cookies and tracking

This site doesn't use analytics or advertising cookies. Videos come from YouTube and Vimeo. They load only when you press play, and use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode and Vimeo's do-not-track setting. Once a video is playing, YouTube or Vimeo may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.

Where your data goes

The site and its email are hosted by SiteGround, and enquiries arrive in my email inbox. These providers process data for me under their own data protection terms.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data I hold about you, or object to how I use it. Use the contact form and I'll respond within a month. If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office atico.org.uk.
